Impressionistic Crimean artist of the Soviet period. People's Artist of Ukraine. Started his education in the studio of the famous artist Samokish. During 1933-1937 Yakov Basov studied at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. A veteran of World War II. From 1946 Basov lived and worked in Alupka and Yalta for 50 years. In 1997 the town museum of Yakov Basov was opened in Alupka. Took part in the exhibitions in Ukraine, Russia, Canada, Holland, Norway, Germany and others.
