People's artist of the USSR. People's artist of the Russian Federation. Honorary academician of the Russian Academy of arts.
People's Artist of USSR (1989). From 2003 - People's Artist of the Russian Federation. One of the founders of  the modern Crimean art school. Bernadskiy received first lessons in the studio of the Leningrad artist Eisner. Then became he a student of the Leningrad Academy of Arts. After graduating from the academy Valentin Bernadskiy was sent to Crimea  with a group of top students (F. Zakharov, M. Bortnikov, V. Apanovich), where he taught in the Crimean Art College named after Samokish. His works are kept in the collections of Ukrainian museums and abroad.
